I am a rehabilitation professional licensed and certified in Speech Language Pathology seeking a position in allied health. I have had the opportunity to fulfill full-time travel and permanent employment assignments which have served as an enhancement to my overall career. My experience ranges from medical facilities in a variety of clinical settings ranging from long term care settings in small towns - to metropolitan hospital systems as well as pediatrics, school and hospital based. I am interested in a position which will utilize my years of experience in:
1) Examinations, testing, diagnoses and administration of treatments for patients presenting with speech and language, hearing, and oral motor disorders.
2) Performing evaluations with particular attention to receptive and expressive language skills, speech fluency, vocal and oral motor competence, articulation and auditory skills, cognitive and swallowing function.
3) Consistent communication with patient, family and involved staff regarding progress, problems, home programs and other issues related to the therapeutic process to maximize direct clinical benefit.
4)The provision of motor skill and articulation therapy and language development as appropriate.
5)The facilitation of behavior management with patients; Family education as appropriate to the needs of the patient not excluding facilitation of parenting skills as required
6)Maintaining an environment conducive to the maintenance of records of work performed, equipment and supplies used as part of the therapeutic process
7) Daily practice of safety, environmental and infection control methods.
8) Developing and implementing speech and language programs and services in acquired and developmental disabilities in patients aged 0-99.
Most recently I have been working and assisting in setting up a new sub-acute center which required assessing and treating persons with speech, language, voice, and cognitive disorders. In the past 16 months I have addressed the needs of neurologically impaired patients with trach and vent dependency requiring specialized dysphagia and passy muir valve applications commensurately presenting with cognitive levels IV- VIII (post coma stim), dysarthria, vocal cord adduction disorders in Gillian Barre Syndrome, ALS and severe apraxia. Team coordination was conducted with respiratory and medical staff.
